Link: Professor Tom Shippey on Sci Fi

I come today bearing a wonderful gift found on YouTube: The full video of a talk given by Professor Tom Shippey in 2010 on Sci Fi. As to be expected if you are familiar with his work, the talk is insightful, full of great scholarship, fascinating history, and delightful anecdotes. Especially valuable is his connection of sci fi with trends of massive technological and cultural change, and its subsequent relationship with such current hot topics as global warming, the internet, and the energy crisis. If you ever doubted that sci fi is relevant in the most basic and literal sense, Professor Shippey will cure you of that right quick.
